(Charles) Peter Underwood (05.12.1941 -
31.07.2025)
It is with a heavy heart that we have to
announce the sudden passing of Peter.
Since our last update in 2022 Peter had
several heart attacks, including 2 on their boat Seeway.
After the last update in 2022 there was a problem with Diane and Peters house
which meant they had to spend over 18 months full time on their boat, including
the 2023/24 winter. Their log burner and a couple of electric fires kept them
warm, plus plenty of hot water bottles. They were unable to move the boat from
their mooring at Stanground due to their health problems, but the upside of that
was they had electric shore power to supplement their solar panel.
The heart attacks that Peter had on the
boat needed the HART team to get him off because the boat was in water. Looking
back it was amazing that so many people were involved in getting him safely off
the boat. We can't thank them enough and are so grateful for their expertise.
For the first heart attack we had the fire brigade,
who had some brilliant lights to help,
a paramedic car, 2 ambulances and 3
HART vehicles. The neighbouring boats must have wondered what was going on in the middle
of the night.
His 2nd heart attack in November 2024 lead to a Pacemaker being fitted and the family
insisted "no more nights on the boat". We made sure the house was finished so he
could come home to his newly refurbished kitchen and bedroom in the lounge. They
spent a few daytimes on the boat so it was not totally abandoned, but it was
just not the same.
So in July 2025 Peter decided he wanted
to sell the boat as he could not see himself using it again and the bills for it
are very high. 2 weeks later he suddenly passed away, at home, with Diane by his
side, his heart could just not take any more.
Peter loved to tell stories and really wanted to get them published. The CPU Story was told in newsletters many years ago and you can find them all on this blog. You can also find a few of his other stories on the blog we have created in his memory - www.peter.knitone.co.uk
In our eyes the last 43 years have been a
bonus, Peter had his 1st quadruple heart bypass at the age of 39 and he was
given a 50/50 chance. With all the other problems Peter had after that, we feel
lucky to have had 83 years of his guidance and love.
We will continue his legacy
by keeping CPU Enterprises going as long as we are able.

So sad to hear of Peters passing, you must be so sad, but I am glad you will have the wool business to focus on and will be ordering very soon. Love from Sue - a long time customer :-)
